Review: Gatame Training Backpack

Updated: Jul 26, 2023

If you haven't heard of Gold Bjj, they are a Jiu-Jitsu apparel company out of San Diego. They've been around for a bit, with a few of my friends even appearing in their technique videos for social media. What I've grown to really like about the company is that they produce isn't all that expensive and they embody what San Diego is. While that's hard to describe into words, they just seem to be very community oriented.

For example, if you live in the area, they offer a pick up option instead of charging you shipping and handling. They also have a 35% off discount program for First Responders and the Military through GovX ID. With the military being such a big presence in San Diego, this really goes a long way.

They even have a Custom Gi that they put together for the US Marshals Service.

I'd like to start with, I don't currently write a ton of reviews on here at the moment, so when I do it's because its a product that I really like. This is my second review for a Gold Bjj item, so if you haven't already, you should check out their Finest City Rashguard. Recently I was able to get my hands on the Gold Gatame Training Backpack and I've been really impressed with the item.

Features and Dimensions:

At 20x13x8" you can cram it with everything you could possibly need for a Jiu-Jitsu class. There are pockets and sleeves for everything you could think of. There's laptop sleeve, belt pouch, Gi compartment, water bottle pouch, and even a pouch for your wipes.

It's sturdy, well throughout, and of great quality.

You know what else is kind'a cool?

There's a waterproof Gi compartment that you can stuff your sweaty mess of a Gi into without it mixing it with any of your other gear.

Final Thoughts

At the current price of $59.99 and 4.7 star rating on Amazon, you will not go wrong with this bag. I absolutely love both the look and the functionality of the backpack.

Where to Order

Website: GoldBjj

Bonus Material (Rolling Kimura):

I decided to add one of their videos since it contains one of my favorite Black Belt instructors, Aaron Hernandez. This guy is great with details and just a wealth of knowledge.
